Good-Very Good overall antique cond: Offered for your review & consideration is this fantastic piece of New Bedford, MA whaling history in the form of a whaling newsprint publication, published in 1909 called the 'Whalemen's Shipping List.' It was orig folded into quarters & there's some minor-moderate foxing &/or tanning found along these folds, which are now largely relaxed. It's now matted & framed in a contemporary stained wood frame. This whaling mercantile trade publication features advertisements w/many whale by-products, such as whale oil & whale bone. Of course, this over 110 yr-old American newspaper publication came at a time when the whaling industry was still not vilified & came before it entered a period of abrupt decline. This 1909 whaling publication points to much different historical circumstances, when New Bedford, MA was still the virtual epicenter of 19th & early 20th c whaling & the mercantile trade of whale by-products. There are no tears or paper loss. Terrific.
