In just great shape, with no significant, noticeable dents, dings, creases, tears or permutations to the tin's surfaces. Only some minor oxidation has slightly affected the curved shoulders of the top of this magnificent
Boston and Maine Railroad
car oil lamp tin fill can.
It was most likely made from the
late 19th to early 20th century,
circa 1890 to 1915.
The famous
Boston and Maine Railroad
was an important railroad shipping route in the
Northeast,
connecting the capital of
Boston, MA to Portland, ME.
Soon thereafter,
B. & M. R. R.
acquired competitor's railroad lines from
Providence, RI to Boston, MA, Worcester, MA
railroad lines and east-west railroad lines from
Springfield, MA to Boston.
Not only did the
B. & M. R. R.
move literally tons of freight everyday and each night on their expansive railroad lines, it began to move tens and then hundreds of thousands of
New England
commuters on a daily basis, rushing to and from work, carrying workers to many factories and mills located in many industrial New England cities. A great
B. & M. R. R.
New England railroad artifact.
Terrific.
CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition.
