This listing is for a Pair / Set of 12” dFd (drum factory direct) Yamaha style 20 Ply Maple Wood 6 Hole Top & Bottom Snare Drum or Tom Hoops / Rims.
They can be used on any 6 Lug 12” snare drum, on Rack Toms or SNOMs (snare/tom hybrid)
They are in excellent condition, 100% functional, signs of use (see pics).
From dFd website - dFd raw (unfinished) Yamaha style wood 12 inch 6 lug wood snare drum snare side (bottom) hoop with cutout slot for snare wire straps or cord, sold as a single hoop. Unfinished and sanded, ready to be stained or painted to match your drum shells' finishes.
- Maple wood hoops give a vintage appeal while adding a fat round sound with a powerful, explosive rimshot and crisp, woody cross stick.
- Made from 20 plies of American Hard Maple, these hoops are extremely stable and durable, measuring 3/4" wide.
- The tension rod holes are countersunk into the hoop so the hoop does not require claws. You may need longer tension rods if you are retrofitting them on your drum depending on how much extra threading the existing tension rods have.
I really like the sound of wood hoops over any metal hoops because they sound more music and organic specially when you use them instead of the hi hat or ride, like cascara patterns in Latin drumming. They provide a clean, dense rimshot, with an impressive crack that has less metallic ring, and cross-stick sounds are enhanced by the wood on wood contact.
